Rules

  • All Whistles will result in a faceoff
  • High Sticking the ball - will result in a faceoff in the defensive zone of the offending team (Referees Discretion for penalty to be called if deemed a dangerous play)
  • SlapShots – Permitted in all divisions (except U10/Women's – No shots above the waist)
  • Penalties - All minor and major penalties will be called as per OBHA rules
  • Game Ejection - Any three infractions by one player will result in an ejection from that game
  • Icing - will occur when the ball is shot before the centre red line and the ball passes the opponent’s goal line before any player, of either team, can touch it. A stoppage of play shall occur with the ensuing faceoff taking place in the end zone of the team that shot the ball. If the goalie touches the ball, or the shot creates a goal, there is no icing on the play.
  • Offsides - Before entering an opponent team's zone, the ball must cross the blue line first before the player or any of his teammates do, otherwise the play is offside, which may result in a stoppage of play (unless delayed offside and players clear the zone)
  • Floating Blue Line  - Once the attacking team crosses the defending team’s blue line, the blue line “floats” and now becomes the centre red line. Once the defending team clears the ball past the centre red line, the attacking players must all cross the blue line to clear the zone before re-entering the zone legally (one foot on the blue line is considered clearing the zone)
  • Scoring - To score a legal goal, it cannot be kicked in; struck with a stick above the shoulders; pushed in using the hand, or while offside.
  • Time Out - Each team shall be permitted one 30 second time out per period.
  • Players - A minimum of 6 players per team are required in order to play the game. If a team has less than 6 players they default the game and their opponent wins by a score of 1-0.
  • Goalies - Can play for multiple teams in order to assist a team who doesn’t have a goalie or is short players and requires a goalie for the game
